Our souls can often be captivated by; the things that bring us value, fulfill our desires, or meet our needs. However, the soul that worships God is focused outward and upward not inward. Worship is genuine when we are emptied of ourselves and filled with Him.
The goal of this study is to help us understand the essence of worship and what our hearts are to be like as we approach our Great and Mighty God. As we study worship together, our desire is that we bring a heart that can truly please our God into our church experience. As we seek the heart of worship we pray we can know our God more deeply, and in that knowing we will be forever changed.
Captivated by Gratitude is based on Romans 12:1-2.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
— Romans 12:1-2 NIV
